Elections Canada to Co-Host Event on Internet Voting
Viewing it as a possible tool to reverse the dropping turnout levels amongst young voters, Elections Canada has been studying the issues around introducing Internet voting ("I-voting") in Canadian federal elections.
At an all-day panel discussion slated for next Tuesday in Carleton University's Senate Chambers, speakers from Markham, Halifax and Peterborough in Canada, and California, Italy, Estonia, Switzerland, Sweden and the UK overseas, will discuss their experiences and the associated technical issues with implementing voting over the Internet.
The event is co-sponsored by the Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue group at Ottawa's Carleton University. Space is limited, so reserve your spot early.

Just a clarification if I may. EC is not hosting the event. The workshop is organized by the Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue (CETD), in co-operation with Elections Canada. Credit where credit is due.
Thank you for that clarification, John. I took it that because Elections Canada was co-chairing the introductory session, they were the co-hosts.
I apologize to the other group for any confusion I may have caused, and for not recognizing their contribution and effort.

well the concept of online voting remains interesting , i can't really see it ever working out in reality . think the problem is we have too many close races and the though of some voting from home over the internet . just doesn't really work out as has the potential to create unknowns and potentials for abuse . or at the very least the uncertainty of who was actually voting .
Anon, There is no doubt that maintaining the legitimacy and usually high level of trust in our system of voting is paramount.
These are the types of issues I'll be reporting on when I go tomorrow.
