Liberals Re-announcing Their Already Twice-Preannounced 2nd Quarter Fundraising Numbers.
Liberal National Director Rocco Rossi "exclusively" tweeted the results, which were predictably retweeted, and then picked up late in the day by the Globe and Mail, who apparently forgot to check whether the figures had ever been announced before.
They were; a month ago when the other imminent story was going to be the release of the party's 2008 financial statements (which, in any event, were not nearly as bad as some had earlier predicted). I don't think I've ever seen so much public relations attention to party or election finance data releases.
Anyways, as soon as the actual 2nd quarter returns are posted at Elections Canada (only the Bloc's submission is currently available), I'll be running down the full details here. Meanwhile, for a comprehensive collection of party finance blogposts at the Pundits' Guide, you can click on the Party Finance label on this or any other post to review all the posts so-tagged.

Thanks. I was wondering what the heck was up. It's looking bad currently for an election this Fall. The Liberals aren't ready. As such, the CPC is doing just enough to prepare for an election but is preparing to try and humiliate Ignatieff in the fall over EI. The whole top level of the public service (Deputy Ministers) got shuffled and the chiefs of staff to each Cabinet minister all just got shuffled. This suggests the Conservatives have read the polls and are digging in until the spring. With the Bloc and NDP both indicating they are highly likely to vote against the Conservatives on any Fall confidence motion, Ignatieff is in the sights again. Worst yet for the Liberals, Harper is about to go year four of his incumbency. The Liberals are running out of time. They are losing important demographics and are completely uncompetitive in over 100 of the 308 HoC seats. Will this be the winter of their discontent?
Well, the Globe has a story tonight that says Mr. Ignatieff is sound more like he's leaning towards one. Mind you it's hard to know what to read into that. I haven't look at the video of his comments yet, but I guess we'll have a better take when things become more concrete in the fall.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I just re-read that reply of mine and realized the grammar was appalling. Time for a vacation, I say!
