Nomination News: More on Cumberland – Colchester – Musquodoboit Valley

Courtesy of this morning's Halifax Chronicle-Herald, we learn of a possible Conservative nomination candidate in Independent M.P. Bill Casey's riding. Casey had earlier announced that he would be retiring at the next election:
  • Cumberland – Colchester – Musquodoboit Valley, NS - Conservative backroom veteran Scott Armstrong was to announce his candidacy today for his party's nomination. Armstrong is credited by the Herald as having been a go-between between Casey's supporters and the party headquarters, and though he supported Casey's reelection, has been reassured by the National Party President, Don Plett, that the party will support whoever is selected by the local riding association to run there. This follows the announcement last February that 2008 Liberal candidate Tracy Parsons would once again be seeking her party's nomination. Parsons is the former leader of the Progressive Canadian Party, who switched to the Liberals just before the last election.
I love to receive a heads-up on nomination news from readers, but just a warning ... if you're going to drop me a line tonight, it seems that my webhost has may have the server down for some maintainance, and emails are not getting through to my email address just now. If the message does get bounced back, please do try again tomorrow.
