Liberals Underspent National Limit in 2008?
The national campaign budget isn't a fixed cost - as in 2008, the party can decide not to spend the maximum - but in order to determine the real ROI of a 308-riding strategy, I'm not sure that using the national campaign budget is a proper imput on the cost side. Now, last I was aware the Liberal Party was indeed planning to spend the national limit (see their spokesperson Dan Lauzon's comments to Barbara Yaffe from the summer). I do recall there was a speculative story during the campaign that they might pull back from going all in, but I can't recall who wrote it or seem to find it just now (any readers out there remember which one I mean?). [UPDATE: Thanks to commenter the Jurist for locating the mid-campaign story I was thinking of from John Ivison.]
Meantime, as noted before the parties' election campaign returns are due on Tuesday April 14, so I guess we'll see how everyone fared then.

I'm guessing you're thinking of this one from John Ivison?
Yep, that was the one. Thanks, Jurist.
