Liberal candidate news
- Dufferin – Caledon, ON: Rebecca K. Finch has stepped aside from her post as the editor of an online publication to replace former candidate Skid Crease, and will face Conservative M.P. David Tilson
- Toronto – Danforth, ON: The son of Trudeau-era Saskatchewan cabinet minister Otto Lang, former ministerial aide Andrew Lang, has won a contested nomination to replace Deborah Coyne as Liberal candidate in NDP Leader Jack Layton's riding
- Nepean – Carleton, ON: High-school math teacher, Ed Mahfouz, will carry the Liberal banner against Conservative M.P. Pierre Poilievre
Forthcoming nominations meetings:
- Cumberland – Colchester – Musquodoboit Valley, NS: May 23, possibly contested
- Stormont – Dundas – South Glengarry, ON: Three candidates have declared for a nomination expected sometime at the end of May or early June, with a possible fourth candidate in the wings
- Bruce – Grey – Owen Sound, ON: One candidate has announced for an as yet unscheduled meeting
- Selkirk – Interlake, MB: Candidate Robert Maytwayashing had stepped down last year after the fall election window passed, and a nomination meeting to replace him is expected sometime in June
This brings the Liberals to just over 75% in candidates identified or nominated, and they have thus far maintained or exceeded their self-imposed target of 33% women candidates (current total is 36.5%, second only to the NDP). Of note, they have virtually a complete slate in Ontario (96/106), Alberta (24/28) , and the Atlantic provinces (28/32).
